Most restaurants now offer low carb diet menus with their regular dining options. The recent popularity of the Atkins diet, Protein Power, and South Beach Diet led many Americans to pursue their weight loss goals via low carb dieting. With Americans using nearly forty percent of their food spending on eating out, almost all restaurants responded and now offer these menus. In an increasingly obese America, low carb diet menus are a practical solution to teen weight loss problems.

The practical theory behind low carb diet menus is simple. Low carb diets take out carbohydrates from your diet.  Examples of carbs are bread, cookies, cake, candy, juice, bought iced tea, and anything with corn syrup in it.

Eating less carbohydrates makes your body make less insulin. Insulin is the hormone in the body that lets us use sugar. If your body always makes too much insulin, you will get insulin resistance, where your body doesn't notice the insulin that's around. That's the same thing as pre-diabetes.

When you make less insulin, you'll use fat for energy instead of the food you just ate! But don't get confused -- if you have diabetes and you are supposed to take insulin, it's not safe to skip it. Using your insulin will help you lose weight. Not taking it will lead to a coma and can cause death.

Some low carb snacks you can buy in the store are South Beach Diet Foods, Atkins Diet items, and Protein Power foods. All these offer consumers options for home dining according to low carb diet menus. If you eat just one, and don't have a whole meal as well, these are great diet foods.
