A good way to keep you motivated is to track your progress and note the physical changes to your body.  The best way to accomplish this is to take measurements and keep a log of your improvements. Before you start, measure and log your fat count or percentage of body fat, along with your weight, waist, arms, chest, and thighs.  Keep track of your physical changes by measuring your waist, arms, chest, and thighs every few months.  Weigh yourself at least once a week and take a fat count every six months. Tracking your physical improvements will help keep you motivated.  

When starting a weight loss workout it is important to keep realistic goals in mind.  Unattainable or unrealistic goals will only serve to undermine your efforts.  You should also work towards your next goal in line with your routine and not try to get ahead of yourself.  This is another way of undermining your efforts.  Trying to achieve more than is physically possible can work against you.  The most attainable results in the appropriate amount of time are the easiest to maintain.
