If you cannot get to the gym, you should start a home workout program. There are many different types of exercises for home workouts that require no equipment at all. Jogging, running, or even walking around your block a few times is a great start to a home workout. You should try to walk, jog, or run two or three times a week. Home workout exercises include sit ups, step ups, chair dips, bent over row, chin ups, wall squat, squats, lunges, and push-ups. Jumping rope can be a very challenging and great cardiovascular exercise you can include in home workout. The first thing you need to do is schedule a time for working out at home. The benefits of developing a home workout is not to waste time driving to the gym, waiting for equipment, and you can workout on your own schedule.
If you plan to create a home gym to help with your home workout, make sure you do not fall into the trap of purchasing random fitness equipment because of advertisements and later find that they do not serve your purpose. Many times fitness equipment does not get used because they are poorly constructed or they quickly lose their value because they cannot progress with you.
If you want to create a home gym in your home that will provide a total body workout including cardio, strength, and flexibility you should have a budget of at least $1000. A treadmill is the best option for cardiovascular equipment because it can be used for walking, jogging, running, and even leg strength training. A fitness ball can provide exercise options for strengthening, stretching, and toning. Resistance bands are a great option for strength training. A step bench is good for cardio workouts and strength training workouts at home. If you need a home gym for just building muscles you should consider getting a dumbbell set, resistance bands, or a fitness ball.
Some good points to keep in mind when buying exercise equipment for a home gym:
- How often will you use the exercise equipment?
- What are your fitness goals?
- What fitness level do you expect to be at in 3, 6, and 9 months?
- Does the equipment offer enough variations that you can change your workouts often?
- Will you enjoy the exercises?
- How much can you afford?
