You'll find some ads above for high protein diets, and some others for diet pills. Please click on the ads, since that's what supports the website. Diet pills are not a safe way to lose weight. Also, the weight you lose on diet pills will probably just come back when you stop taking them.

What about high protein diets? You've probably heard about the Atkins diet, which tells users to eat lots and lots of protein, such as meat, and avoid carbs, such as bread. In a high protein diet, cutting out the carbs leads to a body process known as ketosis. Ketosis occurs when your body uses your fat to fuel your brain, organs, and other body functions. Ketosis allows the body to use fat stores as a source of energy, thus, leaving the dieter much less hungry. The logic behind this diet seems simple, but many Americans underestimate the large amount of carbs they eat every day.

If you want to cut carbs from your diet and eat more protein, it's a safe thing to do. Some high protein foods are:
 

  • Eggs
  • Nuts
  • Cheese
  • Milk
  • Fish
  • Poultry
  • Lean meats
  • Peanut butter
     

If you are going on a high protein diet, you have to be careful how much you eat. Eating  massive amounts of protein won't make you lose weight. Protein drinks are probably not helpful in weight loss. In some cases, people taking protein drinks (like creatine) get kidney problems from them.

What makes the most sense? Cut down on carbs (drink water, not juice or soda, cut out chips, candy and cake, avoid fast food restaurants), and exercise more. You can lose weight! This is the way to do it!
